Review of local heritage register
Brisbane City Council, 2018
|
During my time as a heritage officer in the Brisbane City Council, I was part of a multi-disciplinary team composed of planners, architects and historians working on a six month project that comprised a review of 165 places in the existing local heritage register. The subject places included a variety of building types and uses, including commercial buildings, detached dwellings, community buildings, infrastructure, parks and roads.
My responsibilities in the project included gathering research information such as historical plans and property titles, inspecting and documenting the subject sites with reports and photos, writing architectural descriptions, and working in coordination with historians and planners to assess the cultural significance of the places using comparative statements and standard criteria, and develop management strategies in accordance with best heritage practice and the Burra Charter.
